Building the go-to-market foundations of a leading UK insurtech platform
Launched in 2018, Broker Insights is a high-growth insurtech. The company created its VISION platform – a data and distribution marketplace connecting insurance brokers and insurers across the UK commercial insurance market. The platform improves information flow and efficiency in a traditionally fragmented industry.
The Challenge
As a newly launched technology platform operating in a complex and highly relationship-driven sector, Broker Insights needed to establish a clear go-to-market strategy from the outset.
The business required strong alignment between sales and marketing, a clear market position with both brokers and insurers, and the foundations of a scalable commercial operation capable of supporting rapid growth. As a two-sided marketplace, the company also needed to carefully balance adoption on both sides of the platform while building credibility within the insurance ecosystem.
The Solution
Robertson Collaborate became involved during the company’s inception, initially working with the founders to shape the business’s go-to-market approach and establish the commercial foundations for launch in the UK market.
John worked closely with the founders to align sales, marketing and product priorities, ensuring that commercial decisions were integrated across the business from day one.
This work included developing the company’s positioning, defining how the platform would be introduced to brokers and insurers, and putting in place the early structures for coordinated commercial activity.
As the business gained traction, the relationship deepened. John Robertson took on an interim Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) role before joining Broker Insights in-house as CMO. In this role he built and led a team, developing the company’s go-to-market capability as the platform scaled.
During this period, the business expanded rapidly across the UK insurance market and laid the foundations for international growth, culminating in the launch of the platform in the United States.
The Result
Broker Insights has grown from an early-stage insurtech into a significant platform within the commercial insurance ecosystem.
Major insurers and a triple-figure number of brokers now use the platform, with adoption continuing to grow as the network expands.
As of 2026, the platform has handled more than £7 billion of Gross Written Premium (GWP) in the UK, representing over 40% of the commercial insurance market, alongside a further £3 billion in international GWP. The company employs around 60 people and continues to expand its international footprint following its US launch.
