ABOUT CATHERINE

Catherine is the founder of Robertson Collaborate, having identified a market need back in the noughties.

In her previous role as an in-house marketing director she could see that local businesses were striving to grow but were not joined up in their approach, jumping from one marketing idea to the next. Testing the concept of being an outsourced “marketing director” with one small client, she knew she was on to something when she helped that organisation flourish and grow nationally.

She has now provided marketing support to a triple-figure number of businesses. In particular, her plain English guidance in relation to getting found online is valued by business owners struggling with the expectations of Google and online prospective customers. Making a nearly 1000% increase in sales to a long-established business was one of her proudest achievements.

Catherine has worked with a diverse array of businesses across many sizes and sectors. A selection of her work can be seen on our case studies page.

Where it all began

After graduating in 1996 with an honours degree in Business Studies from the University of Abertay Dundee, she began her career in marketing as part of a team at a blue-chip multinational and Fortune 500 company. Career progression was quick and her last employed role was as Marketing & Operations Director for a legal partnership. Catherine established Robertson Collaborate marketing consultancy in 2009.

Chartered Institute of Marketing

Catherine is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the leading international body for marketing and business development. Since July 2011 she has successfully completed CIM’s 35+ hours a year of continuous professional development, ensuring her knowledge is always up to date. At Robertson Collaborate we believe this to be essential in the near-daily changing world of digital marketing.

Business Gateway

On a regular basis Catherine is brought in as an external consultant to support the businesses benefitting from Business Gateway support. With her insight in this area, she can refer clients to the relevant adviser at Business Gateway and other local bodies to discuss available support measures. She has also been a subcontractor on the Scottish Enterprise marketing expert help framework.

Outside of work

Catherine founded Robertson Collaborate “to do my bit and help make a difference to the local economy”. So it’s no surprise she is a huge supporter and proud patron of V&A Dundee. She likes the good things in life – walking daily (even if it’s just for 20 minutes), cooking and being cooked for and keeping everything in balance with yoga. Namaste. She also enjoys helping Abertay promote her story to encourage students to the university and onto great things afterwards.
