Jannettas

Jannettas is an iconic brand with its base in St Andrews. Fourth generation Jannettas’ family owners, Nicola and Owen contacted Robertson Collaborate early in 2014 as they were ready to take the business to the next level. When the sun shines there is no shortage of custom at the flagship store in St Andrews, with queuing down the street for ice cream a common sight, and the owners were keen to develop plans so that the business continues to thrive for future generations.

The plan created aims to ensure that customers get the best possible experience and that visitors to St Andrews know to make a visit to what is the oldest family business still trading in its original location in the town. And with the brand comprising wholesale ice cream and Burns Sweet Shop and more there was much for Robertson Collaborate to get its teeth stuck into. Early into working together and with Robertson Collaborate’s view that success was achievable, Jannettas entered and scooped the national Golden Cone award, cementing the brand’s reputation as Scotland’s favourite ice cream outlet. This was followed in November by winning Retail Business of the Year at the Courier Business Awards, an award which they were successful in retaining the following year in 2015.

With Robertson Collaborate’s encouragement, Nicola and Owen decided to completely refurbish Jannettas’ two side-by-side premises in St Andrews to create one takeaway and sit-in ice cream eating experience. The new look strengthens the brand and creates a fresh and welcoming space where visitors can choose from the 54 flavours of ice cream made on the premises.

The Result

The highly anticipated refurbished Jannettas in St Andrews opened in March 2015, and has proved very popular with local and tourist customers alike, increasing footfall to both the café and the takeaway. The business has continued its growth, opening a new shop in Dundee in 2021.
